Major Paul Dunbavin OAM is a serving Special Forces officer in the Australian Army with more than 35 years of service. Throughout his distinguished military career, Paul has led at every level—from elite six-man Special Forces teams to senior leadership roles within Special Operations Command Australia, overseeing more than 2,500 personnel.

Enlisting in 1987, Paul rose through the ranks from Infantryman to Warrant Officer Class One before commissioning as a Major in 2019. Paul was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his service as a Regimental Sergeant Major during Operation Slipper and within Special Operations Command.

He currently serves as the Trust Executive Officer of the Commando Welfare Trust, where he leads efforts to provide emergency and long-term financial support to Special Forces soldiers, veterans, and their families—especially where other systems fall short.
