Tyson Matheson served as an Engineer with the IRR/SOER from 2009 to 2014, including operational deployments to Afghanistan.
Despite facing post-service challenges, Tyson has found a new purpose through triathlon training and competition.
After hospitalisation in 2022, Tyson transformed his life and is now seeking to raise funds for others who are facing similar challenges.
In just 12 months of training, Tyson has achieved remarkable success. He participated in three Ironman events across Australia, qualified for the 2023 70.3 World Championships in Lahti, Finland, and is now ranked in the top 5% in his category worldwide.
At the start of 2024, he competed in Tasmania, where he placed 2nd and qualified for the World Championships in New Zealand in December 2024.
Tyson will be competing in this world championship to raise funds for the Commando Welfare Trust whose mission is mission to support Australia’s most at-risk soldiers.
We provide emergency and long-term financial support to Special Operations Command (SOCOMD) soldiers, veterans and family members where the system cannot.
By donating to Tyson’s fundraiser, you will play a crucial role in supporting Australians who have risked their lives to defend our country.
The Commando Welfare Trust is a registered charity with tax-deductible donations, with 100 per cent of the funds going to our beneficiaries.
